This policy explains how HL Performance(“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you enquire about buying a car from us, ask us to buy your car, or contact us through this website, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, phone or email. We are the data controller for this information.

What we collect

• Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and postcode.
• Vehicle details: registration, mileage, condition, service history, photos you send us, and whether there is outstanding finance.
• Sale paperwork: if we buy your car, your V5C details, proof of identity and the bank account we pay into.
• Messages: anything you tell us in a form, message or call.

Where it comes from

Directly from you through our website forms, phone, WhatsApp and email, and through Facebook and Instagram lead forms. When you submit a lead form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd passes the details you entered to us. Meta's own use of your information is covered by Meta's privacy policy.

We also look up public vehicle records (such as DVLA and MOT history) and vehicle history checks using the registration you give us.

How we use it and our lawful basis

• To value your car, make you an offer, arrange collection and buy your car: steps you asked us to take before entering a contract, and performing that contract.
• To answer enquiries about cars we sell and arrange viewings: the same basis.
• To check a vehicle is not stolen, written off or on finance, and to confirm the seller is the registered keeper: our legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
• To keep sales and purchase records: our legal obligations (for example tax and accounting).
• To send you stock updates or offers: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying “stop” or using the unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it where needed with:

• vehicle history and valuation providers, to check and value your car;
• your finance company, to settle outstanding finance;
• our bank, to pay you;
• our website hosting and email providers, who store data for us;
• our accountants, and authorities where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to a sale: up to 12 months.
• Records of cars we buy or sell: 6 years, to meet tax and legal requirements.
• Marketing list: until you unsubscribe.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to work. We will update this policy and ask for your consent before adding any analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent for marketing. We will reply within one month.
